Further Information:

The Keeper of the Land observes the landscape in the aftermath of areas affected by the Australian bushfires of 2019/20.

The Rock Wallaby is the central figure, a survivor in the morning mist.

The work depicts the complexity and resilience of the Australian bush and its inhabitants; from destruction comes rebirth.

The Rock Wallaby symbolises warrior energy and appears to teach us how to serve and not to serve the land.

The fire ravaged, blackened bush, of scorched curled tree ferns, spiked Balga plants and of soaring eucalyptus trees is in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales.

The series was shown as part of the HOME Bushfire Relief Art Fundraiser and for Occupy the Fence in Manyana in support of bushfire recovery.

The Keeper of the Land I, was a finalist in the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize 2022 and awarded Highly Commended in the Emerging Artist category.
